Rajpuri Caves are one of the region’s oldest and most visited attractions. Also called Kartik Caves, these caves house a revered temple of Lord Kartikeya, the son of the Hindu god Shiva. This is one of the most visited temples in Mahabaleshwar.
It is also believed that the Pandavas took shelter in these caves during their exile. Tourists from around the country visit the caves because of their religious significance. On all fours sides of the caves there are ponds which are said to get their water from the holy river Ganga, and it is said that a dip in these ponds absolves one’s miseries and bad deeds.
